Hi everyone, I want to provide an update on the pears Lucy and myself harvested earlier from our LJCC pear tree. We've got a decent number of pears now and they're ready to be processed/cooked! Reach out to learn of a location for this activity.

Next Sunday, 9/14 at 9:30am Lucy and myself will be processing pears, potentially cooking them too. We want volunteers to help us. If you or anyone you know's interested, please let me know. What we cook the pears into (Pear butter, marmalade, etc) could be sold at the Blintz Brunch. Other pears could be used for Rosh Hashana.

On 9/14 we may also have volunteers help us harvest apples across the street. Saeed (a new LJCC community member) lives across from the LJCC and his building has beautiful apple trees; these trees are absolutely loaded with great-tasting apples. Saeed and I have been concerned these apples could all go to waste; so Saeed will soon speak to his landlord, see if its ok for volunteers to harvest these apples. If we get go-ahead, we'll also be able to harvest apples on 9/14 as well. There's a LARGE amount of apples. Excess ones I think can easily be donated to "Just Food" or another food pantry. Others could be processed/cooked on a later weeken (maybe 9/21), into something we could use for Rosh Hashana and/or sell at Blintz Brunch, like the pears.

If you have ideas for what we can do with this bounty of fruit or want to get involved, please let me know. Thanks!
