Join us in the new year for the following educational programs and community discussions.
- Sun, January 14: Join us at 6pm for a potluck and a Community Discussion Forum on the Israeli-Palestinian Crisis
- TBD: Dying Well: a new LJCC series to contemplate, discuss, and learn about issues - both pragmatic and spiritual - related to death and dying. Our first installment in this series will feature Dr. Bradford Cokelet (KU Professor of Philosophy) & Joshua Stein (Executive Director of the Jewish Community Foundation)
- Thurs, February 29: This year's installment inTelling Our Stories Through Food - the Anita Herzfeld - Deborah Sivan Series will feature Dr. Rachel Gross, Assistant Professor and the John & Marica Goldman Chair in American Jewish Studies at San Francisco State University. Dr. Gross will speak on nostalgic cultural practices as a new site for the experience and enactment of Jewish identity. Her talk, in particular, will focus on changing tastes and deli food. This catered event is free and open to the public.
- Wed, March 20: Dr. Omri Senderowicz (KU) will speak about his research on how the kibbutz was impacted in the transition from socialism to capitalism

Mark your calendars for Mezuzahpallooza, a fun festival celebrating the commandment to hang the words of the Shema on our doorposts, taking place Friday, December 6 at 5 pm! We’ll hang mezuzot in all the doorways of the LJCC, we’ll feast together, and we’ll celebrate Shabbat with a short, kid-friendly, service starting at 6:30 pm. Register to attend [link]. Members and friends of the LJCC are invited to sponsor a mezuzah for $90, and sponsorship is not required to attend this event. We hope to see you all there! -
