The observance of Tisha B'Av consists of a brief reading of the Book of Lamentations, known in Hebrew as Eicha. Participants sit on the floor if they are able, and it is customary to refrain from greetings and small talk. Volunteers will read each of the book's five chapters in English or Hebrew as they prefer, followed by a brief discussion. Since Tisha B'Av is one of the two major fasts on the Jewish calendar, there will be no oneg.
