This interdisciplinary conference will bring together scholars from a variety of fields, including history, religion, sociology, politics, anthropology, literature, and the arts, to explore the rich and diverse experiences of Jews in the Americas. Events will include but are not limited to:

  • April 2-21, 2024: the Spencer Museum of Art will display an exhibit of art made by Jewish artists and art depicting Jewish experiences in the Americas. The exhibit is open during the regular operation times of Spencer Museum.
  • April 15-19, 2024: KU Hillel will display an exhibit on the lives of Jews in Kansas, including items from the LJCC. The exhibit will be open during KU Hillel's regular operating hours.
  • April 18, 2024, 11:30 am-12:45 pm at Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center: Our first keynote speaker, Dr. Sarah Imhoff, Indiana University Bloomington (USA): “We have always been American: Jewish origin stories.”
  • April 18, 2024, 5:30-7:30 pm: Conference reception- "A Celebration of Jewish Art & Jewish Songwriters of The Americas". We ask that the audience RSVP here https://kusurvey.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4IbHjtBSV4fJ9sy?Q_CHL=qr. We will have food, a welcome note, “The Bigs” band, and an art exhibit.
  • April 19, 2024, 11:30 am-12:45 pm at Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center: Our second keynote speaker, Dr. Lyslei Nascimento, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil): “Jewish writers: a Jewish face of the Brazilian literature”
