Welcome to the Lawrence Jewish Community Congregation!

The LJCC is a lay-led and pluralistic community located in the heart of Lawrence, KS. As a non-denominational shul, we seek to be a home to all the Jews of Lawrence as well as their Jewish-adjacent loved ones. Ours is a community defined by egalitarianism and inclusivity. We achieve this inclusivity through respecting the variety of ways in which people live their Jewishness. We welcome those who wish to join us in that spirit of inclusivity and in our effort to lead more connected and meaningful lives through learning, worship, celebration and the collective pursuit of tikkun olam.

    Screening of "Israelism"
    Thursday, Jun 13th 7:00p to 9:30p
Directed by two first-time Jewish filmmakers who share a similar story to the film’s protagonists, ISRAELISM is produced by Peabody-winner & 6-time Emmy-nominee Daniel J. Chalfen (Loudmouth, Boycott) along with activist and filmmaker Nadia Saah (Mo, Omar, 5 Broken Cameras), executive produced by two-time Emmy-winner Brian A. Kates (Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Succession, The Plot Against America) and edited by Emmy-winner Tony Hale (The Story of Plastic). ISRAELISM uniquely explores how Jewish attitudes towards Israel are changing dramatically, with massive consequences for the region and for Judaism itself.

    Shavuot 5784 - What's Your Torah?

    Shabbat, Jun 15th 12:00a to 11:00p
The LJCC will celebrate Shavuot, the holiday commemorating the gift of the Torah to the Jews, with a night packed full of teaching and learning. We’ll gather on Saturday, June 15 (just a few days late), in the evening and perhaps even late into the night. When we talk about the Torah on Shavuot, we use the term “Torah” expansively. Sure, the Torah means the five books of Moses. But we also want to dive into the Torah of walking meditations, the Torah of knitting, the Torah of your favorite kind of cheesecake, the Torah of poetry, the Torah of…well, you tell us! Let us know if you want to teach your Torah or if you have some Torah you want to learn by completing this form or by emailing Carrie Caine (caine.carolyn@gmail.com). And save the date for this wonderful celebration of revelation—we hope to see you there!
